Michael Lyons Comments on Aging Gas Line Infrastructure for KENS-TV
Following a structure fire that involved a natural gas line rupture that destroyed a San Antonio business, a KENS-TV reporter called on the expertise of Michael Lyons to discuss his experience with CPS Energy’s aging gas infrastructure. Earlier this year Lyons & Simmons secured a $109.5 million jury verdict for two Bexar County residents severely injured when a gas leak caused a similar explosion and fire at their home in 2021.
"What we determined in that case is that the system that's in place for the gas company is basically if you smell gas as a gas customer, call us and we'll come out," he said. "The problem with that is, what happens if you have children at home that don't know? Or in the case of my clients, what happens if your customer is intellectually disabled and may not understand what the ramifications are for having a gas leak."
