Certain Glider Rocking Chairs Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

|

Victims of dangerous or defective products have legal recourse to consider when injured. Thousands of injuries occur every year because of dangerous or defective products. When an affected consumer or group of consumers has been injured, different parties, such as manufacturers or sellers of the product, maybe liable to compensate the injured victim for damages.

Glider rocking chairs manufactured by Brooks Furniture were recently recalled due to a fall hazard for the user of the chair. Glider rocking chairs are commonly used in Texas and throughout the rest of the United States. The rocking chairs were recalled because the spindles at the base of the rocker can separate, creating a fall hazard for the user. No injuries were yet reported. Two styles of rockers are impacted by the recall.

According to products' liability law, any party in the distribution chain of a dangerous or defective product may be liable to compensate an injured victim for damages. The product manufacturer, the manufacturer of component parts used in the product, the wholesaler, or the retail store that sold the product may all be liable to the affected consumer who has suffered damages because of the dangerous product.

Consumers enjoy certain protections from harm and if harmed, may be able to pursue a product liability claim for damages. The harm that victims can suffer from a dangerous or defective product may prove to be devastating. This is why the legal system offers protection to victims by allowing them to pursue a product liability claim for damages.
