Lyons & Simmons co-founder Michael Lyons was part of the trial team that secured a $37.5 million wrongful death jury verdict on behalf of the family of a man killed in 2021 by an Oncor service vehicle in a motor vehicle crash on a Dallas interstate.
Shamsher Singh was standing alongside his disabled 18-wheeler parked on the shoulder of I-635 when an Oncor service vehicle, piloted by a distracted driver, slammed into the back of the truck, fatally injuring Singh.
“The evidence demonstrated that Oncor’s employee never applied the brakes and never attempted to steer away from hitting Mr. Singh. I am just so happy for this family that after years of Oncor not taking responsibility, a jury made Oncor take responsibility for this senseless tragedy,” said Lyons, who represented Singh’s family at trial. The Kaur family was also represented by attorneys from Houston-based Zehl & Associates, Ryan Zehl, Matt Greenberg, and Michael Streich.
The case, Baldish Kaur, et al vs. Oncor Electric Delivery Company NTU, LLC, was heard in the 160th Dallas County Civil District Court.
